The smell of onions caramelising in butter…
Licking the cake batter off the spoon…
Stealing crackling from the roast as it rests…
My most cherished memories took place in the warmth of a kitchen.
Walking through my Grandmothers front door, I was immediately offered a cup of tea, a slice of carrot cake (with a thick slathering of cream cheese icing) and a bowl of chocolate covered macadamias. Her love for food and family filled the air.
That is what cooking is all about…loving yourself and the people around you.
“Health flourishes in the warmth of the earthen kitchen where the scent of produce fills the air and wisdom passes from the strong elder hands to the tender young ones” - The Ginger Journal
If you’re looking for the warmth of friendship whilst exploring new ingredients and recipes, then you’re welcome to join The Ginger Kitchen Community.
Each month we will focus on one key ingredient. I’ll take you to the shops, help you pick out the best produce, teach you how to prepare the ingredient for optimal nutritional benefit, then gift you my personal favourite recipes.
And for those who struggle with following recipes and prefer to cook by instinct (like myself), then I’ll share with you the basic formulas for great meals, along with tips and suggestions.
But It’s not all about me! I want to learn from you too! That’s what being in community is all about. I’ll be asking you for suggestions and advice, and wanting to know how you are using the different ingredients we’ll cover.
Last but not least, I’m a big believer that health starts in the home, particularly the kitchen. “Food as Medicine” is one of the key principles in holistic health. So let’s explore this world of food, wellbeing and friendship together.
